Job Overview
The Bar Bender will be responsible for bending, shaping, and cutting steel bars for reinforcement in construction projects. This position requires expertise in reading and interpreting construction drawings to ensure the bars are accurately shaped and sized according to project specifications. The Bar Bender will work closely with other construction workers to ensure that reinforcement is done correctly, and the work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Bend, shape, and cut steel reinforcement bars (rebars) according to project specifications and drawings.
- Read and interpret construction drawings to determine the required bar sizes and shapes.
- Prepare and organize reinforcement bars for placement in foundations, beams, columns, and slabs.
- Use specialized tools and equipment to bend and cut bars with precision.
- Ensure all reinforcement work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations.
- Work closely with site engineers and other construction workers to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Inspect bars for defects or damage and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed.
- Ensure that the working environment is safe and adhere to site safety standards and protocols.
Qualification and Experience
- Educational Qualification: Graduate from a Technical School.
- General Experience: 6 years of relevant experience in bar bending.
- Similar Experience: 4 years of specific experience as a Bar Bender, preferably in large-scale construction projects.
