Job Overview
The Earthwork Foreman will be responsible for overseeing all earthmoving activities on construction sites, including excavation, grading, and backfilling operations. This role involves managing and supervising a team of laborers and heavy equipment operators, ensuring that earthwork operations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. The Earthwork Foreman will also monitor the quality of the work and ensure that the project stays on schedule and within budget.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all earthwork activities on-site, including excavation, grading, and filling operations.
- Manage and direct the activities of the earthwork crew, ensuring that they work safely and efficiently.
- Ensure that earthwork operations meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Monitor the use of heavy machinery and ensure its proper operation and maintenance.
- Ensure that the work is carried out according to the project schedule, and address any issues that could cause delays.
- Conduct site inspections to check the quality and accuracy of earthwork operations.
- Communicate regularly with project managers and other site supervisors to update on progress and resolve any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of earthwork activities, including daily progress reports and equipment usage logs.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, and that the work environment is safe for all workers.
Qualification and Experience
- Educational Qualification: Diploma from a Technical School in Construction.
- General Experience: 6 years of relevant experience in earthworks and construction.
- Similar Experience: 4 years of specific experience as an Earthwork Foreman, preferably in large-scale construction projects.
