Job Overview
The Material Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, testing, and recommending construction materials to ensure the quality and durability of construction projects. The role involves conducting site inspections, laboratory testing, and providing technical guidance to ensure that materials meet project specifications and industry standards. The Material Engineer will work closely with project managers, contractors, and quality control teams to ensure optimal material performance and cost-effectiveness.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and recommend suitable construction materials for various projects.
- Conduct laboratory and field tests to determine the properties of construction materials, including soil, concrete, and asphalt.
- Ensure that materials meet project specifications, design requirements, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with project teams to select cost-effective and high-performance materials.
- Inspect and approve materials delivered to project sites.
- Prepare detailed reports on material quality and test results.
- Provide technical advice on material usage and handling to minimize waste and ensure quality.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely and compliant delivery of materials.
Qualification and Experience
- Educational Qualification: BSc Degree or above in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related fields.
- General Experience: 8 years of relevant experience in construction materials.
- Similar Experience: 4 years of specific experience in material engineering roles, preferably in construction.
